The deceased, said to be in her late 60s, was allegedly found unclothed with visible signs of violence on her body, sparking suspicions that she may have been raped and murdered by unknown attackers.
Fear and outrage swept through residents of Ilogbo-Eremi in Badagry, Lagos State, after the lifeless body of an elderly woman was reportedly recovered from a roadside bush under disturbing circumstances, with locals alleging that the victim may have been sexually assaulted and murdered by unidentified attackers.

The deceased, said to be in her late 60s, was allegedly found unclothed with visible signs of violence on her body, sparking suspicions that she may have been raped and murdered by unknown attackers.
It was gathered that the victim had attended a programme at The Joy of Christ Ministry, popularly known as Ayo Jesu Church, before the tragic incident occurred.
Residents familiar with the development said that Adegoke had stayed with a relative living near the church after the religious event and was said to be heading home in the early hours of Friday when she was allegedly attacked by hoodlums, according to PUNCH.
A resident, who spoke anonymously due to security concerns, said the victim’s body was discovered around 6 am inside a bush close to the road.
“She was well known in this area. Her daughter lives abroad. After the church programme, she stayed briefly with her sibling nearby. It was while she was returning home that these criminals allegedly ambushed her,” the source said.
“They removed her clothes and underwear. Her body showed signs that she had been strangled. Her phone was also missing, although her Bible and ATM card were reportedly recovered near the scene.”
It was reported that there were marks on the deceased’s body suggesting her hands may have been tied before she was killed.
Another resident, identified simply as Adeola, described the killing as horrifying, noting that the victim was old enough to be a grandmother.
“It is shocking that anybody could do this to an elderly woman. Passersby found her body in the bush and alerted the police at Ilogbo-Eremi,” Adeola reportedly said.
He added that investigators could possibly trace the perpetrators through the victim’s stolen mobile phone.
Community members also lamented the rising insecurity around the Lagos-Ogun boundary communities, alleging that violent crimes had become rampant in the area.
One resident claimed that the location where the corpse was found had witnessed several criminal incidents in recent years.
“This area has become dangerous because criminals operate freely around the Lagos and Ogun border communities. This is not the first case like this. We have recorded similar incidents here before,” the resident alleged.
“She was found naked, and people suspected rape because her underwear had been removed before the police arrived and covered the body.”
SaharaReporters’ efforts to get a reaction from the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, CSP Abimbola Adebisi, were unsuccessful, as calls made to her phone were not answered as of the time of filing this report.
The latest incident has added to growing concerns over insecurity in parts of Badagry and surrounding communities.
In November 2025, the corpse of an unidentified man was reportedly discovered near a filling station in the Seme area of Badagry under suspicious circumstances.
