Readers trust us with their time, so we hold ourselves to clear standards. This page explains how GhaNaijaBuzz gathers, checks, publishes and corrects its stories, and how we keep news and advertising separate.
1. Our mission
To give readers in Ghana, Nigeria and the diaspora fast, fair and useful coverage of the stories that matter to them, told in a clear and engaging way.
2. Accuracy and sourcing
- We aim to report facts accurately and to check claims before we publish them.
- We name our sources where we can, and we link to the original source or report when we rely on one.
- When something is not confirmed, we say so. We separate what is known from what is claimed or rumoured.
- We attribute quotes, statements and information to the people and organisations they come from.
- When a story develops, we update it and say clearly that it has been updated.
3. News, opinion and entertainment
We label opinion, commentary and entertainment content so readers can tell it apart from straight news reporting. Headlines and images should fairly reflect the story and not mislead.
4. Corrections and updates
We make mistakes sometimes, and we fix them openly.
- If you spot an error, email info@ghanaijabuzz.com with the link to the story and what you think is wrong.
- We review corrections requests as quickly as we can.
- Where a mistake changes the meaning of a story, we correct it and note the correction on the story. Small errors such as typos are fixed quietly.
5. Independence and advertising
- Advertisers, sponsors and partners do not decide what we report or how we report it.
- Sponsored content, paid placements and ads are always clearly labelled, for example “Sponsored”.
- Some links may be affiliate links. If we earn a commission, it does not change our coverage.
- We aim to disclose any personal or business interest that could reasonably affect a story.
6. Images, video and credits
We credit photos, videos and other material to their owners where we can, and we use content only where we have the right to. If you own something we have used and want it credited or removed, contact us and follow the process in our Terms of Use.
7. Sensitive stories
We aim to report on crime, accidents, conflict, health and other sensitive topics with care. We avoid unnecessary graphic detail, take extra care with stories involving children, victims and grieving families, and think about the real-world impact of what we publish.
8. Comments and reader submissions
Readers can comment and send us tips and content. We read comments and may remove those that are abusive, unlawful, misleading or spam. Comments express the views of their authors, not ours. Reader tips are checked before anything is published. For details, see our Terms of Use.
